Photos of Falmouth Cornwall
Click on a photo for much a higher quality version. About FalmouthLocated at the mouth of the river Fal, Falmouth is the third largest deep water natural harbour in the world. The town it self is a busy lively place with a good range of businesses including restaurants, pubs, clubs and a variety of shops.Despite being a popular tourist destination Falmouth is not as tacky as some other towns in Cornwall. It manages to keep the feel of a functional Cornish seaside town. The town does have numerous car parks (most of which are somewhat cramped) they do however fill up quickly during the summer months. History Of FalmouthFalmouth was created from two Hamlets which joined together in the sixteen hundreds, the name was chosen due to the location at the mouth of the river Fal.Things To See And Do In FalmouthWithin walking distance of the town center is castle drive, which has some fantastic views over the harbour and nice walks.Near castle drive is Pendennis Castle which was created in the time of Henry VIII over 450 years ago, it's well worth a visit and will not break the bank. A short drive from Falmouth is Swanpool, which has a beach where you can enjoy many water sport activities. |
