On the way to the Cathedral at Truro. Truro Cathedral dominates the skyline of Truro. The cathedral was built in 1880 on the site where the old Parish Church of St Mary’s stood. This meant that a number of building had to be bought and demolished. During the summer of 2005 the big restoration, a 15 year programme to repair and restore the Cathedral costing at a little over £3.6m started. 36 miles of scaffolding is being used to renovate the cathedral.
